We are living here 🌍 this is our home. A planet that give us what all we need, most of the people's live their whole life without know about this planet.

But, when human get curious about science, space and universe. Some scientists think that what is behind this world and after some research we know that we are not special just like us billions of stars and planets present in universe. Today we know that only in our milkyway Galaxy millions of stars and planets present and many of that planets are habitable.

BUT, CAN WE GO THERE....?

 

Humans go into space, we also land on moons and our robotic spacecrafts land on mars surface and our spacecraft also cross our solar system.

So, it is not possible for us to go in the different star systems? Well.....it is possible.

The nearest star system to our sun is ALPHA CENTAURI star sytem. This  star system have 3 stars alpha centauri A and alpha centauri B this is a binay star system and  and alpha centauri C also known as proxima centauri it is a red dwarf star and it is the nearest star to our sun it only 4.24 light years far from sun.

In August 2016 astromers found that possibly proxima centauri also have one planets called proxima centauri B. Proxima B present in their star habitable zone it means it contains liquid water. The discovery of proxima B is just like a winning situation for us, maybe it's our first interstellar destination.

In year 2015 NASA's new horizons spacecraft reached pluto, it travel with the speed of 84,000 km/hour. If we send any spacecraft to proxima centauri with this speed it takes 54,000 years to reach proxima centauri with our current technology this can't be possible but this is not a whole truth, our scientists working on a spacecraft who reach proxima centauri only in 20 years and this is called breakthrough starshot.

This concept start in the year 1985 when scientists ROBERT L. FORWARD explain the concept of STAR WISP (ultra low mass interstellar probe) it is propel by microwave beam. Theoretically  it's weight will be kept only 1.08 kg, this is very good concept but it take 40 years to reach proxima centauri .

But we want something better than this, here it come the breakthrough starshot before this let see...

SOLAR SAILS AND LIGHT SAILS?

Light sails and solar sails is a sail which is propel by light particles. In boat sail when air hit the boat sail it increases boat speed just like this in light sail spacecraft propel forward by light particles it is a big advantage, solar sails travel very fast and it doesn't need any type of fuel because of this spacecraft weight is very less in ordinary spacecraft contain fuel for propel forward because of this spacecraft become very heavy.

But the breakthrough starshot is a good choice for interstellar travel it doesn't need any fuel it contains 4 meter wide sails they are very thin and on it's center a nano circuit is fixed that contains all sensors, antenna, camera and batteries this nano chip is a main spacecraft.

Well now everyone think that how this small spacecraft work.

For running this visible light lasers will be used. The lasers will be beamed to that spacecraft through laser fields  built on earth.

This only in one hour reach starshot to 20% of the light speed and the starshot cover the distance between sun to proxima centauri in only 20 years, also it have one disadvantage we run starshot with 20% of the light speed but we can't stop it to it's destination. That is, it will not stop reaching proxima B butt will cross it. It's means we have only some nano seconds for collection data of proxima B planet.

That's why scientists think that we can launch hundreds or even thousands of nanoccrafts for this. We test many solar sails successfully but starshot is different from solar sails we don't have that technology for make it but this is very excellent concept  because of this many billionaire invest in this project also Yuri milner, Stephen Hawking's and Mark Zuckerberg support this project.

And good thing is that breakthrough starshot project become reality in 20 years it means after 50 years we have photo and data of proxima B planets maybe first time humans see extra terrestrial life (aliens).
